Il signifie plus ordinairement faire revenir la personne qui s'en va, encore que l'on ne l'eust point desja appellée. Je m'en allois & il m'a rappellé, il m'a fait rappeller.
Il se dit aussi, Pour marquer qu'on fait revenir ceux qui ont esté disgraciez, chassez, ou exilez. Il avoit esté disgracié, mais le Roy l'a rappellé. il a esté rappellé à la Cour, on l'a rappellé d'exil.
Il s'employe aussi, pour dire, Se representer les idées des choses passées. Rappeller le temps passé. rappeller sa jeunesse. rappellez un peu le souvenir de nostre ancienne amitié. rappeller dans sa memoire.
